Fantabulous Cricut card Challenge #49

I made this shaped card for my nephews 11th birthday, then I realized there was a challenge for shaped cards over at FCCB  http://fantabulouscricut.blogspot.com/2011/02/challenge-me-monday-49.html
so this is being entered into that challenge. This card was so fun to make. I cut all the images including the card base at 5 1/4. I used American Crafts card stock.  I used the gypsy to make the base, and the same image twice, welded them together, then trimmed off the top portion of the words on the back part of the card.  This is from the Life's a party cartridge, there are some really nice images on this cartridge.

SUNDAY- Has this ever happened to you? and MAG challenge #15

So, here I am, last night, I have a whole virtual cart full of things all 40 to 50 % off , I leave my cart for a couple of hours (everything was saved) go watch a movie; when I came back the sale was over everything in my cart except for one item, reverted back to regular price. I was quite surprised  because I took a lot of time planning what I would do with each item- oh well there is always another sale. I would really like to know if this has happened to any of you?

In the mean time, I decided to try to make myself feel better, by making a card to make me feel better and also to enter it in the MAG challenge

Challenge #15
you can only use the images on the selected page!!
Cartridge:  Wild Card
Page:  65

I was so excited about this challenge. Today is the day to enter, so this makes up for all the items in my cart that reverted back to regular price.

I also went to the County Fairgrounds today. The Quilters guild was having an exhibit. There were over 400 quilts on display and very impressive, quilts have come a  long way from the olden days, as far as design goes. I got some great pictures and some really super ideas

FRIDAY- KNIT WIT FRIENDS

I wanted to clarify something, on Wednesday I met with my knit wit friends, not all my friends are knit wits but the ones I knit with are. We get together every Wednesday and knit. All the knitting that we do, while we are together (and for some of us, what we knit on our own) is given away to various needs in our community and some to other countries. We began knit wits  in 2005 at that time,  there were 8 of us - we have grown to about 35.  We are a close knit group (that is a pun) we care and support each other, so when I talk about my knit wit friends it is with endearment not disdain.  On Christmas day of 2010,  this photograph along with other Knit groups in our community appeared in our local newspaper. Less than half of our group could make it, because it was such short notice  for the scheduled  timing of the photograph.  We range in age from 18 - 93. Last year my favorite was sending hats and scarves to an orphanage in Soweto.  We received a video of the children singing to us and thanking us for the hats and scarves and they were wearing them in the video. Giant smiles on their faces warmed my heart.  We also have a boutique once a year and the money we make goes to help people with various financial needs in the area. Last year amongst many we sent a young boy to jr. lifeguard training. It wasn't a lot of money but it made a world of difference to him and his self esteem. The group asked if a would make cards for the various give-aways that we did, above is the one I made for the jr. life guard donation.
The afghan at the left is one that I crocheted  for our niece for her and her husband for their wedding last October.

THURSDAY-TRIFOLD PAGODA CARD

Someone had been asking about a tutorial on a Tri-fold card. I have been wanting to make more cards with the Pagoda cartridge so this was perfect for me to get to use some of the images that I have been wanting to  make cards with.

I did a video of the trifold card it is very lengthy mainly, because I am going through my thought process as I do the card the whole card took about 45 minutes, but I did eliminate the cricut cutting portion from you viewers so you wouldn't have to suffer through it. Plus I did have to re-cut a couple of the images because I had changed the setting on my machine ( I have no idea how that happened.)

I t is in three parts Pagoda Episode#2 parts 1, 2, 3

Here is the recipe:

1 12x12 AC black card stock - cut down to 8 1/2 by 12 folded on the 4 and the 8
1 12x12 Core'dinations in blue hue
1 12x12 DCWV  from the Far east stack
1 8 1/2 x 11 Lavender moon PTI

Doll cut at 2 1/2
Umbrella cut at  3"
Temple  2"
Bowl 1 1/2"

Comments are always read and appreciated

Wednesday- Anniversary card

My brother and his wife celebrate  their Anniversary on Valentine's Day. I made this anniversary card for them a few years ago, so I am a bit hazy on what I used . Although I think I could get 90% or better if I were tested on the DCWV stacks, Because my answer would always be yes this is my favorite stack.  This is a 5X7 card with two pieces of DCWV - The Luxury stack, Sizzix die for the flower, tag and heart.  I used an edge punch for the black strip and crystal brad to attach the flower.  The ribbon on the tag is a mint green by the yard from the fabric store near my home. I was hoping to do the video today, but I met with my knit wit friends today- Time just got away form me.  We had a great time.

Tuesday - Groovy Times

Wow!! What a busy day I had today. Any way when I got home and checked the mail  this cartridge was  in the delivery.  I'm working on some other cards right now, but they are a little more time consuming so I thought I would make a quick one to share with all of you. The orange stitch marks on the lettering are the Sakura  luminous gel ink pens they glow under black lights. I thought that was really fitting with this type of card. This is very reminiscent of the late 60's early 70's. I think I really like this cartridge.

I really love reading your comments, so please keep them coming

FRIDAY- and SCRAP CARD

Today is Friday already and I had a bunch of scraps on my working area, so I decided to do a scrap card. These flowers are leftovers from when I made the Tri-fold card on Feb 3,  they are from the sweethearts cartridge. I used Autumn leaves stamps for the stems and some dual tip markers and chalking ink for the colors. Then I inked the edges of the card. The center of the flowers are studs. glued on with the i-rock tool. I'm not a real bling type person, but I like this tool-- it makes me want to bling
I glued some of the flowers on to the card and others I used foam tape to give them dimension. I am still thinking of that rainbow that I saw a couple of days ago. It poured rain all day today.  The rainbow card will be coming soon.

I will be using random for the drawing tomorrow at 12:00 noon PST. I can not imagine having 42 more followers by that time  tomorrow, but if that happens I will have a second drawing for the same giveaway

TRI-FOLD CARD

I wanted to experiment tonight, I had so much fun doing the tri-fold card last time, I decided to try another, I put the white on the kitty with a Sakura gelly roll opaque pen. The orange stitching is a new type of gelly roll pen that is suppose to glow under black light  (I don't know for sure, I will have to take their word for it  I don't have a black light). I put dots for his eyes with black glaze pen. The papers are all from DCWV 2010 summer stack.

The card itself is on AC card stock cut 8 1/2 by 12 and then scored at the 4" and the 8" marks.
Hope you enjoy thanks for coming by my blog.

Thursday-- I'm thinking of summer now--

I had a great workout, hardly any one at the gym today and the sun was shining most of the day. I Got the grocery shopping done.  Silly me, I'm thinking it won't take that long, why did I ever go to the Super- Big GIANT grocery store, it took nearly 2 hours. I don't want it to sound like a complaint, I love going to those stores, it is just I get so distracted. This particular store has the top of the espresso machine, it is like a mini William Sonoma inside of a grocery store. By the time I get home, it is hunger time, I don't mean dinner time, I mean hunger time.  The dinner I had planned for tonight ended up being a reheat of  second helpings ( that is what I like to call them)
I got some of the bugs worked out of my blog, thanks to some help from  my new friends in the land of blog (THANKS GLORIA). I got some paper ready for a new challenge that I will be working on tomorrow. I did not have time to make a card tonight,  but I will  share a card that  I made last year.

I would have to guess on the recipe: size 4 x 6 1/2
Jolee stick ons making memories curling tag Offray green grosgrain ribbon
Sizzix: texture plate
I used a Q-tip and chalked the middle of the flowers
